A Romantic Afternoon at 20th Century Cafe

While walking around San Francisco this weekend, my husband and I came across 20th Century Cafe. I absolutely loved this place. With the vintage vibes, marble tables, wooden bistro chairs, and the guitarists playing early century duets, it was a little piece of heaven. My only regret was not trying the Russian Honey Cake that sat right front and center!

From their website:

The 20th Century Cafe was conceived out of years of hard work in front of the oven, thoughts about food, old movies, and drunken discussions about the future (and the past). Searching through vintage cookbooks and traveling through the cites of Vienna, Budapest and Prague brought tremendous inspiration to what will soon be a little "grand" cafe.

What drew us in was the ambiance, from the outside in. When you walk in, you'll find the open kitchen and friendly staff. And the music. Apparently, they play every Saturday 3-5 pm.

They also had a meyer lemon cheesecake I was eyeing, but we'll have to save that for next time.

We ordered a pot of their oolong tea to share. They served the tea in a set of beautiful, vintage glass tea cups. As a tea connoisseur, I really liked the tea. It was strong, but fragrant too. Just what I needed this past weekend.
