Out In the Open
With the countless days we are at home lately, it’s always refreshing to be out in the open - surrounded by nature, the wintry crisp air, and an endless blue sky. We took to the trails the last few weekends before the heavy rains came and discovered some new ones we’d never been before. We also scouted some future idyllic picnic spots atop a hill, under a tree, and overlooking the water.
I loved these tree tunnels we hiked through. The framing, textures, and shapes left me in awe.
Luckily, we encountered very few people and when there were gatherings of people, we went around them to stay socially distanced. Strangely enough, this has become the norm despite how humanly unnatural it really is. We are social beings after all.
Perhaps one of the most challenging aspects of social distancing is that everyone has a different set of expectations and circumstances. At the same time, everyone needs their own safe spaces. The intersection of the two is a slippery slope of figuring out how you re-belong in the world around you while finding ways to maintain relationships you care about.
Looking forward to the day where we are able to hike with more people or for the time being, those in our little circle when they are free. Until then, here is the two of us.
