Ideas for Staying at Home
For the last two weeks, San Francisco has been under a mandatory “shelter in place” and most people are at home, trying to prevent the spread of the virus. Since we’re all in this together, I thought I’d share a few fun things to do:
Netflix Party (Chrome Plug-in)
Netflix is offering a plug-in for watching movies/shows together with friends remotely. This is a fun way of socializing while we’re physically “social distancing.”
Workout Streaming
Check out your local gym or yoga studio - several places are starting to stream classes and workouts. Alternatively, there are several workout apps you can download to follow at home.
Go for a Walk
As long as you’re at least 6’ away from other people, enjoy a sunset or early morning hike. Soak up some sunshine. Always good to get a breath of fresh air.
Support Local Businesses & Restaurants
I recently learned that Nopa (SF) is offering groceries and cooking kits! What a great way to support them during times like these. Plus - you can cook this anytime. Comes with cooking instructions. I hear their pork chops are really tasty. One of our favorite bread bakeries, Thorough Bread & Pastry recently started offering online orders with pick-up or delivery in SF.
Cooking Together
Since everyone is at home, why not cook more meals together? Look up some new recipes to try. Be creative with the food you have at home! Make some fresh pasta or bake a cake! We just recently bought ourselves a sourdough starter to learn how to make bread.
Facetime, VIDEO CHATS
Even though we’re all apart, take advantage of the technology we have today. Facetime with your family or try Zoom conferencing. We’ve even scheduled Zoom video dinners with friends to catch up.
Cleaning the home
No better time to spruce up the home than the present. Tidy up with Marie Kondo on Netflix for inspiration.
video games with friends
Grab a Nintendo Switch and play games with your friends remotely. We love Mario Kart and Overcooked! Also love the Goose Game.
gardening
Add a bit of life back into your daily view - grow some plants indoors or outdoors. I recently received Sophora Prostrata, a mini plant that grows zigzag leaves. My parents have been planting flowers and vegetables non-stop.
