Life Lately
Life lately has been a bit of a blur. The coronavirus has just about dominated all the news and it honestly feels a bit surreal. It’s a strange time, empathizing with families with children, people who aren’t able to work from home, and the elderly who are the most susceptible. But part of me is also glad to see the communities come together and random strangers helping each other.
I came down the steps of our complex the other day to find a note posted on the stairwell, offering to get groceries and prescriptions to anyone who needed them. When I came back, there were two other phone numbers from more volunteers. Warms my heart.
Looking back, we had a very social January and February, catching up with friends, reconnecting with others, and making new ones. We went on two snowshoeing trips and baked our first savory pie. We hosted a dumpling making party for the lunar new year.
For the last six weeks, we’ve been turning on the pottery wheel 2-3 times a week and I’ve made my first teapots (four of them!). As we’ve recently become studio members, we now have a key to go in anytime. Pottery has been a wonderful creative outlet to de-stress from the day and refresh for the next day. I’ll post more details on our pots once we’ve had a chance to glaze.
We had a bit of a break at work, but have quickly ramped up again and things are busier than I can remember. With everything going on, life still goes on, but I’m taking a moment every day to celebrate all the little things that bring me joy. If you are reading this, I hope you and your family are doing well.
Cheers,
Vivian
