Exploring the Outdoors Together in Point Reyes
I whisked my husband away to Point Reyes where we spent two romantic days exploring the outdoors and taking photos. We’ve been married for almost a year, but every day feels like a mini honeymoon.
Cypress Tree Tunnel
On one of our golden hour afternoons, we stopped by the famous Cypress Tree Tunnel and ran into Zach who ended up taking this amazing photo of us (above). He really made our day. While my husband and I love taking photos (and still learning), we often don’t get to capture these moments together on camera.
Tomales Point & McClures Beach
We took a day trip out to Tomales Point and McClures Beach. Given the high winds, there weren’t too many people out on the beach and trails, but it made for a nice, private getaway.
We climbed up on one of the rocky hills and took a short reprieve from the wind. The views were beautiful along the coast.
As we came out from the trail, we found this field of wildflowers billowing in the wind. I wish we could have run through it, but another time!
Drake’s Estero
This is another beautiful spot to drop by around golden hour. It’s one of the most protected estuaries in California and supports several species of birds, fish and other wildlife.
We tried taking the side road further in, but found it to be a bad idea fairly quickly. The side roads are a bit knarly with several deep pot holes, but if you’re in an SUV, you’d probably be fine. We took the views above from a stop along the road though. We’ll try and explore this area further in next time!
This is just a glimpse of the outdoors in Point Reyes. There are countless more spots to explore in this beautiful area!
