Comfort Food & A Mini Getaway

We took a little getaway to celebrate my husband's birthday. Not that we're resting all the time, but after the long week, we like our getaways and comfort food. I booked this place on the water near Point Reyes Station. It had an incredible view, lined with windows on almost every side.

We unloaded the car and set about unwinding near the windows.

We broke out the mango juice, snacks, pastries from Vive la Tarte, and some Yorkshire Gold tea (our favorite black tea). We also found these tasty lentil chips from the Palace Market at Point Reyes Station.

I was originally planning to make my husband’s favorite soup on his birthday, but we were craving some comfort food early. We picked up some local groceries, most of which were made of grown nearby. One of our favorite discoveries was the local fresh pesto. Later on our way back, we picked up another two jars!

The place we stayed at had a cute little kitchen with a view of the coastline. Everything was well stocked, so much that we spent our entire weekend comfortably eating in.

One of the main additions to making a place cozy is a fireplace. After meeting my husband and his family, I’ve grown to really love woodstoves as well. It’s kind of like having a bonfire, but indoors.

We settled in around the comfy pillows with the fire keeping us warm and watched the sun slowly set. When the light was mostly gone, we setup our tripod on the deck to get ready for some astrophotography. What I loved about this place was that we could take photos, come back in to stay warm, and go back out again.

I’ll post more about our day trips over the weekend soon! For those of you who are curious, this is the place we stayed for the weekend.
