A Festive Gingerbread Greenhouse with Friends
There’s something special about spending time with friends during the holiday season. Given the shelter in place in the Bay Area again, we decided to host a mini get-together over Zoom. I’m thankful to our friends, Alan & Eileen who were up for this gingerbread greenhouse challenge and hung out with us on Zoom for 8.5 hours!
We followed the recipes and instructions from the following links. I ended up making 1:1 scale files we could print out for the shapes.
Gingerbread Greenhouse instructions from Constellation Inspiration (Love her recipes and creations)
Royal Icing Recipe (I ended up only needing about half)
Bought the mini trees from Amazon here
Molasses from here
We set up a webcam of our workspace and found sending each other photos of our progress to be pretty fun. It was a great remote activity as we each needed a lot of counter space, baking trays, parchment paper, and freezer space. There was enough for four people to constantly be working on something.
I love this mini fireplace my husband constructed. We placed this inside the house before installing the roof panels. I borrowed a few sprigs of cedar from our fireplace garland:
Several hours later, here we are! Tada!
Hope you find fun ways to celebrate the holiday season and connect with friends & family, however remote this year. Cheers!
