Sunset Cruise in the Bay

We spent golden hour cruising across the San Francisco bay. Somehow, in a week covered in clouds, we found ourselves embarking on a boat with a clear view of the city. And what a beautiful view it was. It's one of those moments where you stop to appreciate that no matter how cloudy your days can be, the sun will always come out.

We sailed into the sunset, watching the fog lightly roll in, leaving a flattened landscape around Alcatraz below. For those on the fence about taking a sailing trip here, I'd highly recommend it. We boarded the Red and White Fleet. They had a snack buffet and each ticket included a drink from the bar. For non-alcohol drinkers, there's hot chocolate!

This is one of my favorite times of day where the lighting is simply breathtaking. I wish we had brought our film camera that day.

We pulled into a protected spot near Sausalito where the winds died and watched the sun get ever closer to the horizon. It's hard to describe the sense of peace out there on the water. It's almost like the beauty of everything around you silences everything else.

The moon eventually came out, leaving a cool silhouette in the sky:

Before this trip, I had never seen the Golden Gate Bridge from below. We sailed directly under the bridge and shortly past it to take in all the views.

If you're visiting San Francisco or are looking for a good date night activity, I'd highly recommend checking this out! Happy sailing!
