A Slow Whimsical Day in the Life with My Husband

We love to travel and explore, but we also like our slow mornings at home from time to time.

One of the many things I love about my husband is how he shows he cares. We spent a slow morning getting up, but before I even got out of bed, my husband was busy making something in the kitchen. I started getting curious after a long while and walked out to this cute mini breakfast.

He knows I love everything mini, especially mini and round at the same time. I also love eating bento style where there are several little dishes to experience individually. It’s like walking into a Sanrio store full of many small, cute items to choose from. There’s something indescribably fun about the whole experience.

Sitting around the kitchen table, we ate breakfast in our pajamas and drank in the sunshine streaming through the windows.

We spent the rest of the morning watching the soccer game, before heading to the craft store to pick up supplies for a new embroidery project and a yarn store to explore their selection of huge merino wool for making blankets. I found this soft, thinner merino wool called Woolfolk Far that comes in beautiful colors. I love number 18. I’ll keep it in mind for making scarves and sweaters one day (when I learn to knit!).

We tried a dimsum restaurant on a whim for a late lunch, taking some leftover Portuguese Tarts with us to the garden park afterwards. The San Francisco Botanical Gardens has been hosting a series of twelve pianos in the park for the last few days. For those who are around, they’re selling tickets to night piano in the garden for evenings July 12-14.

After a brief nap in the park and hungry Pinterest searches for recipe inspiration, we headed to a Japanese market to pick up ingredients for dinner. And of course, a little matcha soft serve on a bed of iced houjicha since we were there.  We stopped by their plaza bookstore for some food for thought before heading home for a quiet evening of Japanese comfort food and trip planning for our upcoming fall adventure.

Just another slow and whimsical day that I cherish with my husband.
