Hello Santa Fe

We spent a short getaway visiting our friend in Santa Fe. When we landed, we drove right into some crazy, beautiful thunderstorm clouds that peppered the landscape. You could see perfectly clear sunny skies next to rolling, black clouds like a curtain stretching from the land to sky.

We spent the first day exploring the plaza and Canyon Road where all the galleries are located. One of my favorite galleries had works by Vladimir Kush. If you haven't seen his work before, they're incredibly imaginative. In between, we found this peaceful garden full of Buddhas and kinetic sculptures to take a break.

After walking through the galleries and surrounding neighborhood, we took it easy for the rest of the day before heading to an incredible dinner with our friend. I think I finally understand why blue cheese goes so well with honeycomb and how candied pecans pair nicely with brie.

We spent the next day at the International Folk Art Festival where we meandered through several stalls selling art from different parts of the world. I think my favorite was the Uzbekistan stalls, which sold finely detailed plates and bowls to clothing and shoes.

Here's a glimpse of the some of work we saw, including the beaded wire bowls below.

There's something about this felt doll below that made me pause and smile. Don't think words could do it justice.

We unintentionally wandered into this museum while in search of a restroom. They had miniatures of multiple cultures from different times.

My husband found this one and we both started laughing at the couple in the window:

A good short trip for now until our next mini adventure!
