A Taste of the Outdoors in Portland

There is something to be said about walking along a reflection. During our trip to Portland, we made several quick stops to enjoy a bit of nature while we were there. Haystack Rock Cannon Beach was one of my favorites.

Haystack Rock Cannon Beach stretches a wide expanse, leaving enough shallow water to walk a distance into the ocean. It is a popular spot, but not overcrowded either. We spent a few hours here taking photos and enjoying the scenery.

It felt like we were walking on the sky.

We also dropped by Multnomah Falls near the Colombia River Gorge. Though the trail up to the waterfall was still closed, it was nice to be able to enjoy the view without lots of people crossing the bridge.

For most of the picturesque lakes I’ve been to, they usually required an extensive hike to see the views. But not Lake Trillium.  Lake Trillium is incredibly accessible. It’s only a few minutes walk away from the parking lot, but far enough to not notice signs of the road or the drone of cars. There’s an unmistakable view of Mount Hood and several spots around the lake to picnic.

Someday we’ll be back to do some of Oregon’s incredible hikes when most are open again. All in all, a good taste of the outdoors and a great time with my mom.
