Chasing Wildflowers
We planned a little last minute getaway over the weekend, driving south with bags packed until we found wildflowers. Several hours in, we found ourselves surrounded by vibrant shades of yellow, oranges, blues, and purples carpeting the rolling hills and plains. My favorites were the blues and purples. In particular, I loved these abundant, but delicate flowers called Great Valley Phacelia. As the sun began to set, we carefully waded through this patch of wildflowers, along the narrow trails and in between the bunches. I feel like I could have spent hours here, completely at peace.
I hear it’s not even peak flower season yet, but I like to go a little earlier before the crowds get massive. We had this spot mostly to ourselves - a random, but beautiful patch we saw along the windy roads. I hope this inspires others to take the less traveled roads and keep an eye out for unexpected surprises like this was for us.
