Austin: Ah Sing Den
I flew in rather late into Austin last week and went to meet some of the other ladies at a cocktail lounge called Ah Sing Den. It was right around the corner from where I was staying and the perfect place to unwind and catch up with drinks.
The decor inside brought me back to the Victorian Era, mixed in with darker elements, cozy lighting, and subtle Asian undertones. The name of the place itself is named after the owner of one of East London's most famous opium dens. Their menu includes an extensive drinks list, but also tea and morsels enough to satisfy late night hunger pangs. Plus they're open late!
Given the late hour, I ordered a pot of their Rooibos tea. I also tried their Citron Green another night as well. While they weren't particularly special, it was kind of refreshing to have a tea option at a cocktail lounge (given I can't drink much!). The cocktails list looked really interesting though.
They also had a few of these booths inside. You can also reserve a spot for dinner. Overall, a very cool find. The atmosphere was comfortable and classy. Wishing we had something similar where I live!
